A Home for our Veterans

This past May, we recognized the 46th Memorial Day in U.S. history – a day when we honor those who died while serving in the U.S. military and veterans. However, it is also a day when we reflect on the sad fact that fact that 50,000 U.S. veterans are homeless.

This year, NHT-Enterprise, in partnership with Trout Brook Realty Advisors, announced the construction of New Park Apartments in West Hartford, CT. The new multifamily affordable housing community will replace a dilapidated commercial building and is partially restricted for supportive housing for veterans experiencing chronic homelessness.

The veterans living at New Park Apartments will have access to special services including vocational and employment support, veteran benefits and other entitlements, as well as family counseling referrals. The Veterans’ Affairs (VA) Healthcare System will provide medical, mental health and substance abuse treatment for all VA eligible veterans.

New Park Apartments is just one small step in the fight to provide safe, healthy and stable affordable housing to those nearly 50,000 veterans without a home.
