This rendition of Voices out Loud features Yvonne Ball, a Washington, D.C. native who needed a home after a divorce. Now a single mom with four children and a grandson on the way, Yvonne needed to get out of the drug-ridden neighborhood of Mayfield and into a safe community for her family. However, it was nearly impossible to find a new home she could afford on her salary alone.
Voices out Loud, a storytelling series by the National Housing Trust, features residents, staff and owners of affordable housing communities nationwide. These videos share the true stories of those who live, work and manage these communities, and shows the positive impact affordable housing not only has on one family, but an entire community.
