Growing up, Brusette moved around a lot -- a self-described hippie -- but her heart was always with her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. She even returned to raise her children in the commuinty she loved so much. However, when the financial crisis hit, Brusette and her children were nearly faced with homelessness. She'd lost her small business, an herbal shop, and relied heavily on friends and family to help support her.
Once her children moved out, Brusette decided to look for a small place, just for her and the dog. Unfortunately, her options were limited, and she ended up living in dire circumstances for five years under a slumloard, unaware she had any other options.
Here's her story.
