This episode of Voices Out Loud features Kathleen Palmer, a resident of Community Properties of Ohio (CPOMS), an affiliate of Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing in Columbus, Ohio.
Kathleen is a single mother and found herself in need of affordable housing shortly after the birth of her daughter made it difficult for her to afford a stable home at the market rate. Because of her circumstance, she found herself living in three different places over the course of one year before CPOMS welcomed her home.
Voices Out Loud, a video series by the National Housing Trust, features residents, staff and owners of affordable housing communities nationwide. These videos share the true stories of those who live, work and manage these communities, and shows the positive impact affordable housing not only has on one family, but an entire community.
