This episode of Voices Out Loud features Sandie Richard, a resident at Harvard House in Miami Beach, Florida. Days after Sandie, pregnant at the time, and her family moved to Harvard House, her son was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease. Sandie now spends most of her time going back and forth to the hospital through her son's illness. As she reflects on the time of her sons initial diagnosis, her pregnancy, and a bone marrow transplant, Sandie recalls feeling blessed because of the support of her neighbors and the affordability of her home.
