Voices Out Loud: Tashianna Curry

This rendition of Voices out Loud features a young woman, Tashianny Curry, who found herself homeless because of her sexuality. Tashianna was kicked out her family home at the early age of 19 for being gay. She spent two years, homeless, on the streets of Atlanta, struggling to find affordable housing. Now 21, Tashianna is the youngest resident of Phoenix House supportive housing in Atlanta.

Voices out Loud, a storytelling series by the National Housing Trust, features residents, staff and owners of affordable housing communities nationwide. These videos share the true stories of those who live, work and manage these communities, and shows the positive impact affordable housing not only has on one family, but an entire community.
